When deciding to perform a DIY task for the first time there are some basic tools that you should have before attempting the work. Most simple DIY jobs that you may undertake use the same basic tools in conjunction with each other, by adding these tools to your tool box, most jobs will become very simple to do. Some families have building, and DIY in their blood, and knowledge is passed down through the generations, therefore it can be a great idea to get your child a small tool box, slowly adding more tools to it, so when they do hit adult hood any DIY work that they may need to do can be easily done and they will also have the tools there, to help them along the way.
Below is a list some basic tools that every beginner should have in their tool box.
TAPE MEASURE – Nearly every job that you undertake will need a measuring device at some time. Whether you are fixing a TV bracket to the wall, or measuring the size of a room, you should always have one of these at hand.
SAW–Whether you are building framework or planning on replacing flooring, a saw will be needed. A saw can be used not just as a cutting device, but also as a square when used in the correct way. Most saws have an angle handle to provide 90 degree and 45 degree angles. This is a tool that will have to be replaced overtime due to blunting of the cutting teeth but it is definitely a necessary tool.
SPIRIT LEVEL – When trying to produce work of the highest standards, a spirit level is the tool for you. It is not a great look when something isn’t straight, but by using a spirit level your work can always be spot on.
SCREW DRIVER – A lot of DIY jobs that are undertaken include flat pack products, when putting together one of these generally screws will be involved, so a screw driver becomes an essential tool for your tool kit.
