DIWhy! The Worst Attempts at Home Repair, Ever.

This entry was posted on Oct 27, 2014 by speedy-bed

Studies have shown that in recent years, people (mainly men) have gotten worse and worse at DIY. Being quite a handy bunch, we were reluctant to believe this, but unfortunately the internet has shown us otherwise.

Here are some pictures that why make you scream DIWHY! Sorry for what you’re about to see:

It’s getting hot in here

It’s boiling outside and the air-con in your car is broken, what the next logical step? Fitting an AC unit to your rear window and hooking it up to a generator mountain to the boot of course. While this contraption may well work, we can’t tell you exactly how safe it is and we definitely wouldn’t recommend it!

Let’s keep it hot

When the seasons change your above ground pool can get a little bit chilly. But that’s ok with a metal bin, a couple pipes and a pump you can get some heat into that water! Whether or not this actually works, it looks extremely sketchy and must pose some sort of safety risk – plastic and open flame do not mix.

This must be some sort of joke

Nope, not a joke – a coke!  What better way to repair your car’s exhaust than with a coke can, some wire and a bit of tin foil? Quite what this guy was thinking is beyond us – get it to a garage ASAP.

Not sure if stupid…

…or really, really clever. If the front wheel of your bike is knackered and you need to go to the shops then this solution solves both problems! The only downsides are the serious lack of steering and braking, which – unless it’s a straight, flat route to the shops – isn’t very practical.

Even the pros get it wrong

Don’t be discouraged from attempting DIY, even the pros sometimes get it wrong. It’s no small feat to put up one of these poles and the guys who did it must have thought that moving everything across was simply too much hassle. This is the definition of a lazy job.

Got enough pipes there?

There’s too many places to start here… what is it? Why is there so much of it? How on earth can anyone make sense of it all? Couldn’t it have been done in a simpler way? Aren’t you supposed to hide these pipes? Take it away, it’s hurting my eyes and mind!

Merging of worlds

If your kids love video games and riding their bike then why not combine the two to create a gaming bike? Because it is a bad, bad, bad idea. Even assuming there is a backpedal brake and no gears, surely this small little controller doesn’t provide the handling you’re expect from traditional handlebars… this is a hospital trip in the making.

Whose idea was this?

This is a big time screw up! Is the floor on the other side level with the door or the floor on this side? Why is the radiator built into the wall? Why are they using a chair and not a step ladder? Quite how anyone thought putting a door in there was a good idea is way beyond our understanding.

It’s not all bad

Just when you were about to lose faith in humanity, we’re delighted to say that not ever DIY job is a failure. Take this amazing homemade Pacman for example, an old monitor, some proper gaming buttons, a joystick and a box all come together to create the world’s best video game in a smaller and cheaper package.
