Eco Friendly Building Materials

There are many different eco-friendly building materials, and equipment that can be used when building a house, or just repairing, or replacing old, and damaged parts to buildings.

When building a house, there are plenty of products available on the market, that all have different eco-friendly benefits.Having the right tools

Timber

Timber is a natural materials, from which great results can be achieved, if it is used to its full potential. Not only is it environmentally friendly, it is also pleasing to the eye, as you can surround yourself with nature. If you are concerned that trees are being cut down to produce this material, then investigate the company that you use to supply you with the timber. Some environmentally friendly companies have a policy of planting one or more trees, for every tree that is cut down.

Insulation

Rather than using normal insulation which often has harmful fibres, there are eco-friendly versions available, which can often cost a similar amount to the standard insulation, but also  produce the same benefits if not better. Versions of eco-friendly insulation can include materials such as sheep wool. If you want it to be completely organic, and a fraction of the price, why not cut out the middle man, and speak to some local farmers. A good indication of a natural insulation is that the rolls will be green in color rather than the standard product which is generally yellow.

Equipment

When undertaking your building project, why not go back in time to the old ways of building, and do things using hand tools, as opposed to contemporary equipment. Though this may prolong the project’s timescale, it will not only benefit the environment, but you can achieve greater results, and you will get a sense of satisfaction from doing it by hand.

Take ideas from magazines, television programs and the internet, and be at one with nature, and the environment.
